CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION ALLOCATES $1.7 BILLION TO EXPAND STATE’S ECONOMY AND UPGRADE TRANSPORTATION
INLAND EMPIRE - The California Transportation Commission (CTC) today allocated $1.7 billion in funding for transportation projects that will strengthen the state’s economy by sustaining and creating jobs and provide congestion relief for motorists statewide.
“The benefits these projects bring to California are a huge boon to the economy, and the investment in our transportation system will continue to serve motorists for generations to come,” said Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty.
Approximately $872 million of the funding was provided by Proposition 1B, a transportation bond approved by voters in 2006. In total, more than $13 billion in Proposition 1B funds have been distributed statewide.
Some of the notable projects that received funding include:
- Riverside County:
$113,370,000 – I-215 Widening Project/Scott Road to Nuevo Road in and near Perris. Construct a third mixed-flow lane in each direction.
$1,000,000 – State Route 60/Nason Street Overcrossing Improvement in the City of Moreno Valley. Replace the existing overcrossing at Nason Street.
$190,000 – In and near Beaumont from Gilman Springs Road to First Street. Install rumble strips on shoulders and place reflective markers on the median barrier.
San Bernardino County:
$33,164,000 – I-15 Ranchero Road Interchange Project in Hesperia at Ranchero Road. Construct a new interchange.
$787,000 – In Yucaipa from Live Oak Canyon Road to County Line Road. Construct a barrier on the westbound outside shoulder.
Today's allocations include $766 million in federal funds that will be applied to various local transportation programs statewide. The remaining allocations came from assorted state and federal transportation accounts.
