Inquiry #1: SP section 39-2.02B(3) states: "Replace 40 in the row for Los Angeles Rattler in the table in item 1 in the paragraph of section 39-2.03A(4)(e)(I) with: 25". It appears that Caltrans has incorrectly placed the special provisions from District 2 in this project. This also includes revised SP section 39-2.03A(4)(e)(I) for Coarse Durability, Fine Durability, and Soundness. Please confirm if this is correct or not?

Inquiry #2: The spec for the slurry seal reads to use a continuous self-loading mixing machine. with the short length of this project would the State consider the use of truck mount slurry machines instead?

Inquiry #3: Is the contractor responsible for adjusting the existing utility lids including: water valves, manholes, and handholes? If yes, under what bid item is this work being paid for?

Response #2:No utility adjustments are anticipated. Contractor will be required to cold plane and pave around manhole and handholes while protecting in place. Refer to Section 7-1.03 of the Revised Standard Specifications for temporary tapers required for height differentials caused by construction activities. For utility covers within the limits of slurry seal refer to the detail on plan sheet C-2 (#4/35) and Section 37-3.01C(1) of the Revised Standard Specifications. Bid per current contract documents.

Inquiry #4: Reference Cold Plane AC Section at Intersection detail on sheet C-2 and Electrical System plan sheets E-1 thru E-5. It is unclear whether portions of the new loops will be placed in areas outside the new grind/paving limits at local roads. Please clarify.

Response #2:Bid the project as described in the plans and specifications. The existing electrical loops on the side streets shall be avoided unless the loop is shown to be replaced. At local roads where loops are shown to be replaced, the new loops will be placed in existing asphalt surfaces, outside the limits of new grinding/paving.

Inquiry #5: Reference plan detail "Logitudinal AC Conform" on plan sheet C-1. Please clarify the location of the conform limit is relative ot the intersection of Santa Maria Way at Hwy 135. Does the new RHMA paving extend into the intersection and if so, how far?

Response #2:Bid the project as described in the plans and specifications. The limits of the conform are shown on Sheet C-2 in accordance detail “Cold Plane Ac Pavement at Intersection” and Sheet E-5 which denotes which electrical loops will be replaced. The exact location of the conform will be prior to the existing electrical loops on the Santa Maria way and the southbound Route 135 loops and limit line.
