Lane Closures On Valley Center Road Begin Monday
SAN DIEGO——One-way traffic control will be in effect on Valley Center Road from State Route 76 (SR-76) to Ahuya Ranch Road, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 7 until 5 in the morning, according to Caltrans. The closures are needed to excavate an existing drainage system as part of the SR-76 Valley Center Road Roundabout Project.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel during the closures. Signs will be posted to alert motorists.
The $15.5 million SR-76 Valley Center Road Roundabout Project will replace the existing three-way intersection with a modern roundabout and realign the curves just east of the intersection. The new alignment will increase the sight distance for westbound vehicles approaching the intersection.
Other project features include additional signing, sidewalks, curb ramps, high friction surface treatment, and landscaping, as well as a new bus pull-out.
Construction began in July and is expected to take about a year to complete.
Caltrans reminds drivers to “Be Work Zone Alert” by avoiding distracted driving, paying constant attention to traffic, and slowing down when approaching work zones.
